The posted compensation range of $26.91 - $41.75 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Respiratory Care assists physicians, nurses and other hospital personnel in caring for diagnosing, and treating patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities by applying therapeutic, preventive, and diagnostic procedures.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Administers treatments and medications which promote pulmonary hygiene, improve pulmonary function, and improve respiratory status.
  2. Implements oxygen, gas, and humidity therapy. Maintains oxygen and humidity devices and emergency equipment.
  3. Performs oximetry, safely obtains blood samples and verifies accuracy of results.
  4. Sets up, monitors, and maintains invasive and noninvasive ventilatory and oxygenation devices; recognizes and corrects malfunctions or inappropriate settings.
  5. Strong patient care and customer services skills: Provide high quality care and diagnostic services that are appropriate, efficient and effective; ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of patients, ages and physical conditions.
  6. Participates in patient’s assessments/evaluations, maintenance of airways and ventilation, resuscitation efforts and other emergency medical treatments.
  7. Able to work independently as well as part of a team with the ability to be self-motivated. Is dependable and reliable.
  8. Stocks supplies, prepares ventilators/Bipap and other equipment for immediate use; maintains a neat and orderly work area.
  9. Proficiently perform all assigned tasks proficiently; manage patient flow; preparation, procedure and charges.
  10. Demonstrates efficient multi-tasking skills, organizational ability and time management; Electronic Health Record and efficient use of computer skills; work in stressful situations.
  11. Provides proper patient information, medical history and performs necessary duties in accordance with policies and procedures.
  12. Other duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

Requirements

High school diploma or GED

Active license to practice Respiratory Care through the Board of Respiratory Care(NBRC) required; CRT credentialed from the National Board of Respiratory Care or LPN with competencies for Respiratory Care completed

Excellent communication skills, thoroughness and attention to detail, able to work independently and as a team member in an efficient and organized manner, possess mature thought, sound judgement and technical accuracy

Preferred

RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) or CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist)
