PGY2 Cardiology Pharmacy Residency Program

Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center

Program Description

PGY2 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available.

Welcome to Our PGY2 Cardiology Pharmacy Residency Program

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in our PGY2 Cardiology Pharmacy Residency Program!

Our program is committed to developing highly skilled, compassionate, and confident cardiology pharmacy specialists who are prepared to make a meaningful impact on the care of patients with a wide range of cardiovascular diseases.

Throughout the year, the PGY2 cardiology pharmacy resident will be immersed in a diverse and challenging practice environment where he or she will work alongside physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, and other members of multidisciplinary cardiovascular teams. Through progressive clinical experiences, longitudinal learning, research and quality improvement opportunities, teaching, and mentorship, the resident will grow professionally and personally.

We believe the most successful residency experience is one in which residents are challenged while also supported. Our preceptors are dedicated to providing meaningful feedback, individualized mentorship, and opportunities for residents to develop their unique clinical interests and professional goals. We strive to create an environment where questions are welcomed, collaboration is valued, and residents are empowered to become independent practitioners and leaders in cardiology pharmacy.

A PGY2 year is an exciting and transformative step in a pharmacist’s career. While the year will undoubtedly challenge you, it will also provide opportunities to discover your strengths, expand your clinical expertise, and build relationships that will continue throughout your career.

We invite you to explore our program, learn about our clinical experiences and opportunities, and discover what makes our residency community special. We look forward to getting to know you and learning how our program can help you achieve your goals in cardiology pharmacy.

We hope you will consider joining our team!
