The posted compensation range of $30.91 - $45.98 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

St. Joseph Medical Center Family Birth Centerdelivers more babies in the South Puget Sound than any other hospital, and offers extensive prenatal, obstetrical, delivery, and postpartum care.  We are proud to be recognized as among the country’s top-performing programs, designations that are only awarded to maternity care programs that maintain exceptional outcomes and deliver patient-focused care.

Our offerings include High-Risk Pregnancy Care, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), 24-hour OB Hospitalists, Partnership with the Neonatology Team at Seattle Children’s Hospital, Midwifery Services, Childbirth and Family Education Classes, Breastfeeding Support with our Certified Lactation Consultants, Frenotomy and Treatment Options for Babies with Tongue-Tie, Vaginal Birth after Cesarean (VBAC), Waterbirth, Pelvic Physical Therapy Program, and Doulas to provide physical and emotional support to pregnant women both before and after childbirth.

Job Summary:

This role provides educational programs to parents, children and families for Franciscan Health Systems. Courses are primarily related to childbearing year and family education such as parenting classes. Course curriculums are generally pre-developed and educators are expected to adhere to course content. Incumbent may teach classes as a primary or fill-in instructor as needed.

Essential Duties:

  • Facilitates the delivery of current, evidenced-based content through teaching/leading in-person educational offerings.
  • Adheres to established and approved course curriculums.
  • Assesses and meets individual student needs and learning goals as related to course content.
  • Uses course equipment, course materials and audio/visual aids to provide optimal presentation and educational impact.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • One year of work experience in Adult Education, plus one year of recent work experience in assigned course topic areas that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities required.
  • For Childbirth Educators: Completion of Childbirth Education course by accredited institution/organization.

Licensure & Certification:

  • For Childbirth Educators: International Certification as a Childbirth Educator by ICEA, Lamaze, or CAPPA
    preferred.
  • For CPR/Infant Safety Educators: American Heart Association (AHA) Certified Instructor required.
  • For Infant Massage Educators: Current Washington State License as Massage Practitioner OR Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI) required.
