The posted compensation range of $60.24 - $89.60 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our IT Principal Systems Engineer, you will design, optimize, and maintain highly complex enterprise IT endpoint systems and infrastructure, identifying improvements and implementing robust solutions for reliability, security, and performance. You will be a key driver in shaping our end-user computing environment.

Every day you will lead multiple high-complexity endpoint and VDI initiatives, collaborating with teams to troubleshoot and resolve intricate infrastructure problems. You'll provide technical guidance to IT teams, oversee systems engineering aspects of projects, act as a subject matter expert, and mentor systems engineers. You will be instrumental in leading projects from inception to completion, dedicating workloads and tasks to other individuals as needed to ensure successful outcomes and efficient resource utilization.

To be successful, you will demonstrate exceptional expertise in endpoint architecture, VDI solutions, and cloud-managed endpoints, with strong problem-solving skills. Proven leadership in guiding and mentoring teams, excellent communication for technical concepts, and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement are essential.

  • Develops organizational policies, standards, and guidelines for methods and tools specifically related to endpoint management, VDI, and automation.
  • Sets direction and leads in the introduction and use of techniques, methodologies and tools, to match overall business requirements, ensuring consistency across all user groups.
  • Leads the development of organizational capabilities for methods and tools (including automation) to ensure adoption and adherence to policies, standards and processes.
  • Determines testing policy, and owns the supporting processes including software security testing for endpoints and VDI environments.
  • Manages all risks associated with the testing and takes preventative action when any risks become unacceptable.
  • Initiates improvements to test processes and directs their implementation.
  • Assesses suppliers' development and testing capabilities.
  • Determines project testing standards for all phases, influencing all parties to conform to those standards.
  • Sets the release policy for the organization in the context of both development and production/operations for endpoint and VDI software deployments.
  • Ensures that management processes, tools, techniques and resources (including automation) are in place to ensure that the transition of services, service components and packages are planned and compliant and that test and validation and configuration management are partnered in all release and deployment activities.
  • Provides authorization for critical release activity and point of escalation.
  • Maintain primary responsibility for strategic planning, technical roadmap development, standards and architecture for all endpoint and VDI solutions.
  • Oversees efforts with key vendors to understand future application product plans in conjunction with IT leadership, specifically focusing on endpoint management, VDI, and related technologies.
  • Perform project resourcing, oversight and management, including the ability to delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively to team members.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 years of professional IT experience in an IT technical or infrastructure field 
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Endpoint Engineering, focusing on client operating systems.
  • 5+ years of practical experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) platforms (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Microsoft AVD).
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and managing solutions with Microsoft Intune for device management and application deployment.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for endpoint lifecycle management, patching, and software distribution.
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation of endpoint configuration, deployment, and management tasks.
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects, define scope, manage timelines, allocate resources, and delegate tasks to team members to ensure project success.
  • A strong track record of effectively communicating, collaborating, and building relationships across all levels of the organization, from technical teams to senior leadership and diverse business units.
