The posted compensation range of $32.23 - $40.27 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.

Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process.

To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.
  • SAFETY
  • Maintains a safe, therapeutic work environment at all times and identifies and addresses problems to the appropriate departments.
  • Adheres to the principles of infection control, including medical and surgical asepsis and isolation techniques.
  • Demonstrates aseptic technique when required in the performance of job duties.
  • Understands and assures patient safety initiatives, not limited to: a. Handles surgical specimens accurately following departmental policy. b. Performs sponge and sharps count per departmental policy c. Participates in Site verification per departmental policy d. Assures all equipment is functioning before use.
  • Professional Development: Completes yearly goals that promote unit and personal growth. Actively participates in evaluation of learning needs and addresses them. Attends staff meetings and inservices at least 80% of the time, maintains BCLS, unit and facility competencies, and TB skin test.

Job Requirements
Required
  • High School Graduate Successful completion of a Surgical Techprogram required or 15 years of recentcontinuous experience in lieu of SurgicalTech Program, upon hire or
  • High School GED, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and

Preferred
  • Surgical scrubbing, upon hire
  • Technologist in Surgery-Certified, upon hire

Bakersfield Memorial Hospital includes 385 general acute beds, 48 licensed critical care beds, 13 state-of-the-art surgical suites, and a full-service Emergency Department with an Accredited Chest Pain Center and Nationally Certified Stroke Center. In addition, we offer a beautiful Family Care and Birthing Center, the Lauren Small Children's Center including the area's only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Family Care Center, a Level II NICU, the Sarvanand Heart, and Brain Center with Kern County's first Bi-Plane Interventional Suite, the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbarics, and many more services.
