The posted compensation range of $37.85 - $42.68 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Psychiatric Technician, you will provide compassionate direct patient care and essential support to individuals in mental health settings, contributing profoundly to their emotional well-being and recovery journey.

Every day you will expertly assist patients with daily living activities, facilitate therapeutic group activities, monitor behaviors and vital signs, and meticulously document observations, collaborating with the clinical team to ensure a safe and supportive environment.

To be successful, you will demonstrate outstanding empathy, strong observational skills, and a patient, resilient demeanor, contributing to a stable and therapeutic milieu for patients experiencing mental health challenges.

  • Assures that the rights of the patient/family are respected and maintained
  • Assesses the physical, psycho-social, spiritual, cultural, functional, high risk and discharge needs of the patient and family
  • Provides for the education of the patient/family
  • Develops, implements and evaluates a nursing plan for care for the patient/family
  • Incorporates the plan for nursing care into the multidisciplinary care and management of the patient/family
  • Identifies and defines major functions of the department/unit

Job Requirements

Required:

  • CA Psychiatric Tech license or CA Licensed Vocational Nurse license
  • Basic Life Support - CPR

Founded in 1974, Dignity Health - St. Joseph’s Behavioral Health Center is a 35-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital located in Stockton, California. Serving over 3,000 patients annually, the center offers a full complement of services including behavioral evaluations, a chemical recovery program, and inpatient services. Additionally, St. Joseph’s Behavioral Health Center has been recognized as an LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality High Performer by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. It is the only psychiatric and substance abuse hospital in the area.
