Responsibilities

Job Summary: 

  • Incumbent maintains exterior and interior building furnishings and trade surface in good functioning order, ensuring that all Joint Commission and regulatory requirements are met.

Job Duties:

  • Prepares and paints all surfaces to meet the needs of the facility which includes the ability to match paint colors and match custom mixing.
  • Maintains all doors and associated hardware which includes hinges, locks, handles, latches, closures, smoke seal, and thresholds. Also repairs all door assemblies to ensure functioning properly.
  • Maintains Wall/Corner guards and bumper rails as needed which includes supports, backing, and finished covering.
  • Repairs miscellaneous furniture as needed which includes chairs, couches, and tables.
  • Answers any trouble calls to off campus properties and resolves call issues as appropriate.
  • Completes assigned work orders and PM orders to maintain the reliability and integrity of the buildings and installed furnishings in the hospital and assists other members of the departmental team as needed or requested.
  • Informs Management of the unit requesting the service of the status of their request. If the service will not be performed in the timeframe given, advises customer of the proposed completion date.
  • Assists with all locksmithing functions assigned by Management which includes cutting keys, changing cores, adjusting latches, manages electronic door devices and maintaining records.
  • Controls and completes assigned work orders/PM orders upon completion of the requested work which includes closing out open work orders at the end of each work day which includes insuring departmental logs are kept up to dat and readily available.
  • Inspects, maintains, and repairs building structures which includes Life Safety and Environment of Care Standards.
  • Provides corrective support for the Environment of Care surveillance activities in the organization.
  • Identifies items not meeting regulatory compliance and works with other members of the healthcare team and departmental leadership to ensure the department and organization is in compliance.
  • Maintains a level of needed materials to help reduce the risk of floods, dust control and temporary barriers for other isolation needs.
  • Enters data on corrective deficiencies into CMMS software systems to ensure effective departmental processes.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested in a professional manner.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Three years or recent facility experience in the operation and maintenance of a physical plant and associated equipment or equivalent work experience required.
  • Previous experience in healthcare environment preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints preferred.
  • Successful completion of trade apprenticeship preferred.

Licensure:

  • California Drivers License
