The posted compensation range of $56.10 - $77.56 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic imaging examinations, including but not limited to X-rays, fluoroscopy, and potentially other modalities like CT or MRI (if cross-trained), to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries. This role requires technical proficiency in operating imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety, maintaining accurate records, and providing compassionate patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Care & Safety:

    • Greets patients, explains procedures, and answers questions to alleviate anxiety and ensure cooperation.
    • Positions patients correctly for each examination, ensuring comfort and accurate angle.
    • Applies appropriate radiation protection (e.g., lead shielding) for patients, staff, and self.
    • Screens patients for contraindications, pregnancy, or metallic implants as per protocol.
    • Monitors patient condition during procedures and responds to any adverse reactions promptly.
    • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment in the imaging rooms.
  2. Imaging Procedures & Operations:

    • Operates radiologic equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
    • Selects appropriate technical factors (kVp, mAs, exposure time, focal spot, SID) for optimal image quality and minimal radiation dose.
    • Performs quality control checks on equipment as required.
    • Utilizes Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS) for image acquisition, archiving, and patient information management.
    • Assists radiologists or physicians during fluoroscopic procedures or other advanced examinations.
    • Maintains accurate patient records and ensures proper labeling and documentation of images.
  3. Technical & Professional Standards:

    • Adheres to all departmental policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
    • Complies with state and federal radiation safety standards (e.g., ALARA principles).
    • Participates in quality assurance and continuous improvement activities.
    • Maintains professional demeanor and effective working relationships with patients, physicians, and colleagues.
    • Stays current with advances in radiologic technology and practices through continuing education.
  4. Equipment Maintenance:

    • Performs routine checks and troubleshooting of imaging equipment.
    • Reports equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel for repair.
    • Ensures adequate supply levels within the imaging suite.

Job Requirements

We require:

  • Graduation from a hospital-based or college-based radiology program.
  • Washington State Certification for Radiologic Technologist and a certificate from the American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT) as well as current registration with ARRT.
  • Current certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology or successful completion of certification within one year of hire; and current CPR validation.
  • Completion of 24 Category "A" continuing education (CE) within a two year period is also required.
  • Critical thinking skills; quality assurance assessment skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work with highly technical equipment; extensive product knowledge; a thorough understanding of sterile technique.
  • Ability to achieve hemostasis following the removal of arterial/venous catheters.

Preferred qualifications:

  • One year of experience in Interventional Radiology and/or a minimum two years of experience in Diagnostic Radiology. Preference will be given to applicants who hold national certification in any advanced Radiological modality.
