Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Stationary Engineer, you will be a central figure responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of our facility's critical mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring continuous functionality for all building occupants. You will play a vital role in maintaining a stable and comfortable environment while optimizing energy and system reliability.

Every day, you will expertly monitor, operate, and troubleshoot complex HVAC, refrigeration, boiler, and power generation systems, performing meticulous preventive maintenance and repairs. You will also maintain precise logs, respond promptly to alarms and emergencies, and collaborate with other facilities personnel to ensure all infrastructure operates at peak efficiency.

To be successful in this role, you will combine a valid Stationary Engineer license, extensive experience in operating and maintaining large-scale building systems, and a profound understanding of MEP principles. You will demonstrate exceptional diagnostic and problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to safety, and thrive in a dynamic, hands-on environment dedicated to ensuring uninterrupted facility operations.

  • Repairs and services hospital support and communication equipment.
  • Knowledgeable in HVAC systems and controls, pneumatics, hydraulics and plumbing. Ability to read blueprints and electrical control diagrams
  • Performs scheduled maintenance on hospital support equipment.
  • Responsible for completing proper paper work for ordering, supplies and repair services.
  • Prioritizes daily work to address safety and patient related work requests first.

Job Requirements
Required
  • Minimum of five years in the field offacility support and the ability to exhibit a strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems. and
  • None, upon hire

Preferred
  • Three years of hospital facility service is preferred with the ability to exhibit sound working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems.

As Santa Cruz County’s heart attack (STEMI) receiving center, Dominican Hospital provides cutting edge cardiac care. The hospital’s heart attack treatment times consistently beat the national average, and the hospital offers two cardiac catheterization labs available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Groundbreaking cardiac procedures at Dominican include the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure, which allows for heart valve replacement without opening a patient’s chest.
Dominican Hospital has forged significant partnerships with area hospitals to bring exceptional care to Santa Cruz County. The hospital offers a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through a partnership with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Neurosurgery at Dominican is also offered through a partnership with Stanford Health Care.
