Responsibilities

As a Community Outreach Specialist reporting to the Director of Education, you will be a driving force in advancing crucial grant initiatives dedicated to improving community mental health and well-being. This dynamic role involves delivering trauma-informed, culturally responsive education and outreach, directly impacting the lives of underserved individuals and families. Your work will focus on preventing violence, enhancing health, and strengthening vital family support systems across our community.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the identification of critical mental health, violence prevention, and safety education needs within the community, becoming a key contributor to targeted interventions.
• Lead and facilitate engaging, bilingual classes and support groups focused on stress reduction, emotional wellness, effective parenting, and fostering safe relationships.
• Be the face of our initiatives by conducting proactive outreach at diverse community events, schools, and partner locations to raise awareness and connect with those who need us most.
• Bridge gaps by effectively connecting community members with essential resources, including behavioral health services, counseling, and legal assistance.
• Actively contribute to the development and evaluation of impactful educational materials, surveys, and cutting-edge outreach tools.
• Maintain meticulous records of participation, referrals, feedback, and outcomes, ensuring robust data for grant tracking and program success.
• Forge strong collaborations with both internal and external partners to align programming efforts and amplify access to vital services.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Two years of experience in community outreach, education, mental health,or public health services preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, or related field preferred 

  • Basic Life Support (AHA-BLS) certification
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and social determinants of mental health.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health, counseling, and wellness resources in San Bernardino County
