The posted compensation range of $23.11 - $34.38 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Responsibilities

The Respiratory Therapist - Interventional Pulmonology provides quality respiratory care as a member of the Respiratory team, with a specialized focus on supporting Interventional Pulmonology procedures and patient care. This role collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory services to patients undergoing or recovering from interventional pulmonary interventions. The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for the safe and effective operation of specialized equipment and techniques used in the Interventional Pulmonology setting.

Patient Assessment and Treatment Planning:

Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans in collaboration with the medical team.

Assess patients' respiratory status before, during, and after interventional pulmonary procedures.

Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, and other relevant parameters.


Respiratory Care Delivery:

Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical/surgical conditions.

Manage and maintain artificial airways, including endotracheal tubes and tracheostomomies.

Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and other respiratory treatments.

Perform airway clearance techniques.

Assist with bronchoscopy procedures, including specimen collection and airway management.

Assist with endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) procedures.

Assist with thoracentesis and chest tube insertion.

Manage and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators.

Provide ventilator support and weaning as directed by the physician.

Assist with the management of patients with pneumothorax, pleural effusions, and other respiratory complications.


Interventional Pulmonology Support:

Prepare and maintain specialized equipment used in interventional pulmonary procedures (e.g., bronchoscopes, EBUS equipment, cryotherapy equipment, laser equipment).

Assist physicians with interventional pulmonary procedures, including but not limited to:

Bronchoscopy

Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS)

Thoracentesis

Pleuroscopy

Airway Stenting

Cryotherapy

Laser Therapy

Balloon Bronchoplasty

Monitor patients during and after interventional pulmonary procedures for complications such as bleeding, pneumothorax, and respiratory distress.

Provide post-procedure respiratory care and monitoring.


Documentation:

Perform timely and accurate documentation with the idea of real time charting.

Maintain accurate records of patient assessments, treatments, and responses.


Quality Improvement:

Promote continuous quality improvement.

Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives.

Monitor quality control standards for the department.


Education:

Educate and counsel patients, family members, and caregivers regarding respiratory care and disease management.

Participate in the training and education of other healthcare professionals.


Safety:

Conducts safety rounds as prescribed by the organization's safety plan.

Ensures accuracy of reporting by conducting chart audits.

Inspects department and completes routine environmental rounds.

Report's safety issues via the BeSafe portal.

Delegates safely and appropriately to accomplish direct patient care or support activities.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy education program

Six (6) to twelve (12) months’ experience in Respiratory Care or other related field

Respiratory Care Practitioner: TN (RESP-LIC:TN)
Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) within 12 - months
Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR) upon hire
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 30 Days
