About the Role:

As a Per Diem Rad Technologist, you will perform a wide range of radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures in various locations, including (but not limited to) clinics, the emergency room, special procedures rooms, surgery, or patient rooms. Your ability to expertly operate radiographic equipment to produce recorded images of the body will directly assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries.

Your work will be essential in ensuring optimal diagnostic quality of patient care through efficient and safe processes, always adhering to departmental protocols and regulatory requirements. Key aspects of your role include:

  • Precision Imaging: Preparing and operating radiology equipment to achieve the correct size, depth, and detail for each requested exposure area, based on physicians’ orders and strict department protocols.
  • Patient Education & Comfort: Clearly explaining procedures to patients, responding to their questions, and utilizing equipment and techniques to ensure comfort and protect patients, yourself, and others from unnecessary radiation.
  • Safety & Consistency: Employing techniques and procedures that guarantee consistent results and meticulously cleaning equipment after each use.
  • Comprehensive Patient Care: Delivering compassionate patient care for all age groups while performing radiological exams, procedures, and/or special procedures.
  • Patient Advocacy: Acting as a vital liaison between the patient and the radiologist, providing comfort and protection, and responding to emergency situations within your scope of authority.
  • Accurate Documentation: Maintaining precise patient records by documenting pertinent information in the patient chart and advising nursing staff of any significant changes in a patient’s condition while in Diagnostic Imaging.
  • Operational Support: Performing incidental general office duties, which may include answering the phone, scheduling, filing, maintaining patient records, and ordering supplies. You may also participate in the ordering and inventorying of equipment and supplies.
  • Mentorship: Participating in the training of Radiologic Technology students, offering instruction to broaden their knowledge of the profession.
  • Cultural Competence: Demonstrating proper use of communication tools and materials for effective communication, and understanding how diverse cultures can impact communication, collaboration, and the provision of care.
  • Continuous Improvement: Keeping abreast of FHS standards, protocols, and procedures, maintaining current skills, and demonstrating evidence of continuing education through department meetings, individualized learning opportunities from radiologists, and relevant classes.

Qualifications

Education/Work Experience Requirements

Graduation from an accredited school of Radiological Technology, and one year of recent related work experience which may be obtained through practical education/training that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities required. 

Work experience involving the current technical aspects of patient care in a radiology department is preferred.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) required.
  • Current Washington State certification as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Current healthcare provider BLS certification.
