Responsibilities

The Supervisor of the Anesthesia Techs is responsible for the direction, supervision and facilitation of the daily operations of the Anesthesia Technician staff 

  1.  Provides Supervision and direction to Anesthesia Techs in their daily work.  Provides direct care as an Anesthesia Tech as needed. 
  2. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the department.  Creates work schedules including on-call and time off requests.  Performs billing code management and quality assurance. Performs HR functions including staff evaluations, counseling, disciplinary actions and staff mentoring.  Ensures compliance with human resources policies.  Works with vendors to maintain optimally functioning equipment.  Assists in developing department policies and procedures.  
  3. Recruits, hires, trains new staff. Ensures all staff are in compliance with competency assessments.  Maintains and updates staff procedure manuals, staff training programs and quality assurance programs.  
  4. Assists manager/director with budget development and management.  Assures cost-effective daily operations and allocations of section resources to optimize available staff with demand for service. 

Qualifications
  • Associate degree in a health related field, or equivalent is required. 
  • Three to five years experience as an Anesthesia Tech including at least one year in a lead or supervisor capacity is required. 
  • Current and valid certification by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) as an Anesthesiology Tech and maintenance of CEUs for on-going certification is required.  
  • Strong knowledge of operation room and anesthesia processes, procedures and techniques. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills and aptitude for detail. 

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
