Position:Clinical Laboratory Scientist II

Job Duties: 

  1. Perform moderate and high complexity testing in areas of Blood Bank, Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Microbiology, Serology, and Urinalysis to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
  2. Validates and reports results of tests performed including recording patient results in Cerner Millennium LIS.
  3. Performs quality control, quality assurance, and performance improvement routinely in the department.
  4. Operate, calibrate, standardize, and maintain the following instruments according to procedure; Beckman Coulter DXH 600, Cellavision, Abbot Architect Chemistry Analyzer, Cepheid GeneExpert, Stago, Rotem, Siemens Clinitek, Iris IQ200, SQVA analyzer, Gel microtyping, Excyte ESR, various Serologic Test Kits.
  5. Assists in checking calculations, transcriptions, quality control, and quality assurance reports as requested
  6. Participates in professional growth by maintaining knowledge of lab specific policies and procedures and taking advantage of the available educational opportunities.
  7. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested in a professional manner.
  8. Instructs other scientists and trainees on proper procedures and techniques for conducting tests and examinations.


Qualifications

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or closely related. The employer will accept a foreign degree if it is in the same field.

             Experience Requirements: 24 months of experience in the job offered, Medical Laboratory Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist or closely related.

 Special skills requirements: 

  1. Working in different sections of the Laboratory such as Serology, Blood Bank, Phlebotomy/Information, Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Microscopy (Parasitology/ Urinalysis), and Bacteriology.
  2. Receiving blood and blood products, receiving specimen such as blood, urine, stool, and other body fluids, and processing them with proper adherence to quality assurance programs of laboratory.
  3. Examine secretions and excretions of the human body by various electronics, chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic, hematological, serologic, and immunologic procedures and techniques either manual or automated.
  4. Evaluate and perform corrective actions using Quality Control specimens on various clinical instruments.
  5. Must have a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist) License from the California Department of Public Health.
  6. Must have an International Medical Laboratory Scientist (IMLS) Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

Salary: $97,676-$126,989 / year

Work Schedule: 40 hours/week
