Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Vice President of Operations for Emergency Medicine Services is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of the operational strategy to maximize the performance of assigned areas. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: communicating, directing, planning, organizing, financial/operational monitoring and integration operations to facilitate the delivery of cost effective, high quality healthcare services in an ever-changing environment. The Vice President of ED Operations and Business Development will provide the leadership and direction for assigned areas. This position will partner with leaders throughout Dignity Health to drive initiatives, programs and services to enable the organization to deliver on its mission, strategies, and goals. As a member of Dignity Health senior leadership team, the Vice President of ED Operations and Business Development will exhibit and promote the mission and values of Dignity Health.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures all elements of the strategic plan are aligned and implemented within assigned operational areas.
  • Ensures that high quality care is provided through the acquisition, utilization and organization of human, financial, technical, and physical resources.
  • Establishes short and long-range management, organizational, operational, and financial plans to support the organization's values, vision, strategy and goals.
  • Participates in the development of the overall strategy and ensures execution of the strategic priorities; ensures assigned areas are aligned with growth opportunities.
  • Responsible for  developing and maintaining a business/management approach to track, monitor, communicate. Ensure assigned areas are aligned with growth opportunities.
  • Achieve established goals and targets for assigned areas. Reports regularly on performance with corrective strategies as needed.
  • Leads and drives operational improvements in  patient experience, physician and staff engagement, while increasing revenues and reducing costs to improve our competitive position. Maintains responsibility for positive physician relations.
  • Ensures a safe work environment and consistency of operations and compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and statues.
  • Organizes functions through establishing clear accountabilities and decision rights, delegation of duties, and appropriate departmentalization without creating silos. Maintains responsibility for positive physician relations.
  • Is accountable for a comprehensive and effective communication strategy within assigned areas that promotes a common understanding of the market, vision, strategy, and accountabilities. Promotes a culture of two-way communications, and creates opportunities for physician/staff participation.
  • Establishes short and long-range operational plans, initiatives and processes to support the organization's mission, vision, strategies and goals and to optimize current and future performance. Creates an empowering environment and continually builds a learning organization capable of being more nimble in a rapidly changing business environment.
  • Develops, inspires, and maintains an effective, visible, and well-respected team by selecting, evaluating, developing, coaching, and managing the performance of qualified professionals. Maintains professional affiliations to enhance professional growth and remains current with the latest trends in healthcare.

Minimum:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Of Science Business, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or related field.
  • Masters Of Science Business, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or related field Preferred
  • Experience in managing change initiatives.
