Responsibilities

Join CHI Health CUMC-Bergan Mercy as a Med/Surg - Oncology Clinical Educator and become a frontline nurse leader, shaping the future of oncology nursing care. You'll be instrumental in promoting excellence in clinical practice, fostering the professional growth of our dedicated nursing staff, and implementing education initiatives aligned with the CHI Health Nursing Strategic Plan and Vision. As a change agent, mentor, and champion for interdisciplinary teamwork and evidence-based practice, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our patients receive the highest quality, compassionate care.

Your Impact:

  • Elevate Oncology Nursing Practice:Assess, research, coordinate, and evaluate educational and professional development programs, services, and systems, ensuring they meet the unique needs of our Med/Surg - Oncology nurses.
  • Be a Role Model and Mentor:Serve as a role model, clinical nursing expert, change agent, mentor, and leader, inspiring and guiding nurses to achieve their full potential in oncology nursing.
  • Drive Innovation in Oncology Care:Actively seek out and implement evidence-based practices, contributing to clinical excellence and innovation in oncology nursing education and patient care.
  • Champion Quality Improvement:Provide clinical expertise and leadership to quality improvement initiatives, ensuring the delivery of exceptional, patient-centered oncology care.
  • Facilitate Seamless Transitions:Coordinate and facilitate nursing transitions to practice and ongoing professional development through support of central onboarding, clinical orientation, nurse residency, fellowships, competency assessment, and preceptor and mentor programs, specifically tailored to the Med/Surg - Oncology setting.
  • Develop Cutting-Edge Oncology Resources:Contribute to the development and maintenance of innovative educational tools and resources, integrating adult learning theories, organizational development principles, and a systems approach, with a focus on oncology nursing best practices.
  • Shape the Future of Oncology Nursing:Play a vital role in shaping the future of oncology nursing by empowering nurses with the specialized knowledge, skills, and competencies they need to excel in this challenging and rewarding field.
  • Influence System-Wide Initiatives:Serve as a consultant for organizational, divisional, and system initiatives and program development related to nursing practice, with a focus on oncology care.

Qualifications
  • BSN required. Master’s Degree in Nursing or completion of MSN program within 5 years of start date.
  • Active RN licensure in the state of Nebraska, Iowa, or nurse licensure compact. 
  • American Heart Association BLS.
  • Nursing education experience demonstrating progressive experience in the development and implementation of clinical education programs.
  • Minimum three years relevant nursing experience.
