Responsibilities

Manager Security

Location: CUMC-Bergan Medical Center and Lasting Hope

The Manager of Security primary objective will be to maintain a safe, secure and threat free environment. The Manager shall provide a framework for the successful implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive security Program. 

Manages Security personnel in the daily activities related to protecting the safety and security of patients, visitors, staff and physicians. Coordinates assigned duties relating to emergency management functions. 

Manages the design, development and coordination of activities of the Security staff in protecting the safety and security of patients, visitors, staff, and physicians. 

The Manager of Security has primary responsibility for ensuring that their assigned facility maintains a safe, secure and threat free environment by effectively managing assigned security officers. The Manager will ensure that officers are properly trained and capable of carrying out their assigned duties. Develops and implements the Security Management Plan and manages and coordinates responses to critical incidents. Reviews and addresses identified actual and potential security breaches. Ensure that security policies and procedures are followed. Additionally works with administration to develop appropriate strategies and tactics to safeguard patients, staff and visitors. Work collaboratively with department leaders and others to address any security gaps or issues. Designs and conducts security awareness programs. Maintains a positive working relationship with community law enforcement agencies.

  • Provides leadership for Security Services 
  • Ensures delivery of quality services; regulatory compliance, manages operations efficiently and effectively to achieve service and revenue objectives 
  • Initiates the integration of additional services as needed 
  • Oversees the campus security and parking force 
  • Actively participates as a member of the Environment of Care and Emergency Management Committees Implements and maintains comprehensive inspection, test and maintenance programs for all security physical and electronic measures. Prepares, disseminates, and follows up on security assessments. 
  • Assists with the Security Management Plan implementation and coordinates responses to critical incidents. Identifies, documents and addresses actual and potential security breaches. 
  • Monitors existing security systems and technologies for possible security leaks or fraud. Hires and manages staff to assure that departmental goals are accomplished. Conducts ongoing employee training pertaining to security programs 
  • Conducts annual performance reviews of assigned security officers 
  • Knowledge of external provider management processes and ability to effectively manages the business relationship with external providers (e.g. vendors, service providers, contractors, consultants and suppliers)
  • Will take appropriate and immediate actions in case of an emergency to protect safety and wellbeing of patients, staff and visitors. 
  • Knowledge of information, personnel and premises security processes and procedures; ability to develop and maintain appropriate security levels. 
  • Knowledge of tools, techniques and technologies to ensure premises security; ability to undertake risk assessment and ensure the safety of life and property in physical premises. 
  • Knowledge of techniques, equipment and processes to ensure personnel security; ability to implement the measures necessary to safeguard an organization's employees and visitors. 
  • Demonstrates breadth and/or depth of professional/technical skills and capabilities required for position; shares knowledge; sets or contributes to the Company’s direction within area of expertise 
  • Interacting with others in a way that gives them confidence in one’s intentions and those of the organization Ensuring that the patient/customer perspective is a driving force behind our actions and business decisions; crafting and implementing service practices that meet patients'/customers' and own organization’s needs. (Focus also includes internal and external customers.) 
  • Manages collaboratively and coaches others to achieve optimal performance; delegates effectively; praises/rewards contributions; defines clear roles and responsibilities; sets goals and leads initiatives; adjusts plans as necessary
  • Sharing authority and responsibility with others to move decision making and accountability downward through the organization enabling individuals to stretch their capabilities and accomplish the business unit’s strategic priorities. 

Qualifications

Associate of Arts (AA) Degree in Business Administration or Criminal Justice, Safety Administration, Emergency Management, or a combination of education and/or job related experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing a Security/public safety-related program. Experience with budgets, program management, policy-design, and implementation oversight. 

Law enforcement and/or military security related experience to include leadership role 

Current Driver's License issued by the State 

American Hospital Association compliant CPR BLS within 90 days of employment.
