Responsibilities

As our CNA at CHI St. Francis Health, now part of CommonSpirit Health, formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities.

Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You’re diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well. You know we’re all continuously trying to become better care providers, and you’re eager to learn.

We are offering a $3,750 Sign-On Bonusto new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

The Certified Nurse Assistant (herewith referred to as C.N.A.) assists patients and/or clients with healthcare needs by supporting personal hygiene and daily living needs, providing compassion and comfort, transportation and vital sign monitoring under the supervision of an RN or LPN:

  • Fulfills basic quality of life for patients of all ages
  • Answer call lights
  • Serve meals, feed patients
  • Vital signs (BP, T, P, R, and SaO2) weight measurements, and accuchecks
  • Make beds, keep rooms clean
  • Ambulating, turning and positioning patients; providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
  • Adjunct care by ice/heat treatments, non-sterile dressings, therapeutic baths
  • Toileting, measurement of and documenting I/O
  • Knowledge of isolation techniques
  • Reporting observations of patient to attending or charge nurse.
  • Documentation of care provided
  • Safe patient handling (for self and patient)
  • Rounding in ER
  • Strong work ethic and ability
  • Completion of mandatory regulatory and educational assignments
  • Clerical duties:

     • Answer/transfer calls using proper phone etiquette

     • Print/FAX medical records

     • Patient charges

     • Assembling patient charts/folders

  • ER Quality Controls

     • Clean refrigerators ER/AC weekly

     • Wipe down ER stretchers and commodes daily/WCs weekly


Qualifications

Requirements

Successful completion of a nursing assistant training course is required

BLS

Current education on age specific assessment and interventions from neonate through geriatric

Preferred

Previous experience as a nursing assistant in a hospital setting 

Certification of Nursing Assistant License

High School Diploma
