Responsibilities

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  Works under the supervision of Administration.  The housekeeping supervisor cleans and maintains assigned areas of the hospital in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition to promote a clean and healthy environment for all employees, patients, and guests.  Attends departmental meeting and in-services as assigned, purchase supplies and equipment for department as required, budgeting, establishes and maintains policies and procedures in accordance with the Mission and Philosophy of Community Memorial Hospital.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attains completion of department goals/objectives as identified at last performance appraisal. 
  • Assures development of programs, policies and  procedures that respond to the changing times in healthcare: Policies and Procedures updated per policy; Innovative changes are made in department
  • Maintains positive representation of the department by demonstrating initiative in recognizing and responding to co-workers workload and assists in completing their assignments when feasible.  Understands the function of other positions in the department so coverage can be maintained in relief situations. Orientates new employees and ensure department is covered at all times.
  • Ensures the Housekeeping Dept shall meets compliance with the State Health Department with            < 2 deficiencies as well as internal safety/sanitation inspections.
  • Keeps hospital clean and presentable at all times.
  • Purchases supplies and equipment using the most cost effective vendors while maintaining adequate supplies on hand. 
  • Disposes of garbage following approved hospital policies.
  • Cleans patient rooms and other rooms in accordance with departmental standards.

Qualifications

Education:  Literacy - ability to understand and complete written and verbal instructions.

Experience:  One year supervisory experience preferred. Housekeeping experience helpful but not required.
