Responsibilities

As our Sterile Processing Coordinator at CHI St. Vincent, you will help ensure the safety and effectiveness of patient care by managing the sterilization and distribution of medical instruments and equipment.

Every day, you will oversee the sterilization processes, maintain the cleanliness and functionality of equipment, and coordinate the efficient distribution of sterile supplies to various departments within the hospital. You will be expected to adhere to strict quality and safety standards, manage inventory levels, and collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to meet their instrument needs.

To be successful in this role, you must have a strong understanding of sterilization techniques, experience in sterile processing, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

  • Acts as a communication liaison between surgery, physicians, and hospital departments within their service line, facilitating the location of instruments required for surgical cases.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital policies, personnel assignments, and department operational procedures, particularly regarding the CSIQ software system, safety protocols, infection prevention, and equipment management.
  • Maintains thorough documentation and notifies surgery and Sterile Processing Department (SPD) leadership about instruments requiring repair, addition to trays, or replacement to ensure the completeness of all surgical trays.
  • Actively checks the surgery schedule to prevent case delays, conducts instrument inventories, and prepares next-day needs lists to ensure timely completion of case carts and instruments.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, or GED Required
  • 5+ years of experience in a Sterile Processing Department with one year in a lead or charge role.
  • Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required.
