Responsibilities

As Transplant Manager, you will lead the strategic, operational, and clinical coordination of the Kidney and Pancreas transplant program (and potentially other organ transplant services), ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, high-quality patient care, and effective program continuity across the transplant continuum.  

The only CommonSpirit Health Transplant Program in the Pacific Northwest. 

30% Program Leadership & Operations

  • Oversee daily transplant services, including program workflows, staffing, budgets, and resource utilization
  • Develops and implements clinic-specific customer service, human resource, and financial goals & objectives consistent with VMMC's strategic plan and goals 
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary care for both transplant recipients and donors, across inpatient and outpatient settings

20% Clinical Coordination & Quality Assurance

  • Oversee patient case management—from evaluation through transplant/donation—including waitlist and re-evaluation processes 
  • Collaborate with the Quality Manager on quality assurance/performance improvement initiatives such as QAPI dashboards, morbidity and mortality reviews, and PDSA cycles 
  • Monitor patient satisfaction for ongoing improvement

20% Regulatory & Policy Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to all relevant standards (e.g., CMS, UNOS/OPTN, JCAHO/Joint Commission, state-level regulations) 
  • Develop, review, and enforce program policies and clinical protocols

10% Human Resources & Staff Development

  • Manage staff recruitment, orientation, performance evaluations, discipline (via HR), and retention strategies 
  • Foster staff competencies through education, training, and ongoing evaluations

10% Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as liaison with organ procurement organizations (OPOs), donors, recipients, clinical staff, insurance, and regulatory agencies
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing customer complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through
  • Conduct community outreach and patient/family education initiatives
  • Participates in organization-wide committees to establish or improve customer service and administrative plans and policies. Represents clinics and VMMC to local community and business groups
  • Collaborate with Regional, National and our WAMI (Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) partners

10% Budget & Administrative Oversight

  • Assist in developing and managing the transplant program budget, monitor variances, and recommend corrective financial actions
  • Ensure efficient use of labor and supplies in alignment with operational goals 
  • Forecasts staffing, capital and operating budget needs in evaluating and reporting on the clinic's market position, financial situation, space utilization, etc. Monitors performance of
    plan and makes adjustments as needed


Qualifications
  • RN license; BSN; MSN preferred.
  • Transplant Experience required 
  • BLS required; transplant-related certifications a plus.
  • 3–5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in policy development, regulatory standards, and team leadership.

Five years progressively responsible clinic management experience; proven proficiency in financial management, which includes comprehensive understanding of insurance plans as they relate to physician practice; the ability to communicate clearly, effectively and concisely to a variety of audiences; and strong Human Resources skills.
