Responsibilities

As a Respiratory Care Practitioner at St. Bernardine Medical Center, you will play a vital role in supporting the respiratory health and recovery of patients across a range of clinical conditions. In this position, you will perform both diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures, evaluate patient progress, and contribute to high-quality care planning as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory treatments in accordance with physician orders and clinical protocols.
  • Assess and monitor patient respiratory status, documenting progress and updating care plans as needed.
  • Ensure proper function and maintenance of respiratory equipment, reporting issues to the charge therapist.
  • Obtain and validate written physician orders, and maintain accurate records of care provided.
  • Collaborate with the care team to organize and prioritize daily assignments, ensuring no procedures are missed.
  • Uphold compliance with department protocols, hospital policies, and California’s Respiratory Care Act of 1982.
  • Maintain up-to-date professional knowledge in respiratory care techniques, technologies, and safety standards.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of Respiratory Therapist / Technician Program accredited by the AMA Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation
  • Current CA RCP
  • Current RG RRT 
  • AHA-BLS Certification issued by the American Heart Association
