Responsibilities

Chaplain – Community Hospital of San Bernardino


As a Chaplain at Community Hospital of San Bernardino, you will play a key role in delivering compassionate, respectful, and inclusive spiritual care to patients, families, and staff. This position supports the emotional and spiritual well-being of those we serve while upholding the hospital’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide spiritual and sacramental support tailored to the diverse needs of patients, families, and staff.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Spiritual Care to guide the ethical and theological direction of services.
  • Support the implementation of the hospital’s Palliative Care Program.
  • Coordinate with community clergy to ensure continuity of care and support across faith traditions.
  • Promote a healing environment grounded in dignity, respect, and human worth.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of one (1) year of pastoral experience required
  • BA or BS degree, advanced study in theology or equivalent, or ordained, and faculties given by the Ordinary of the local Diocese
  • 4 Units Clinical Pastoral Education Preferred 
  • Board Certified with APC, NACC, NAJC, or ACPE within one year from the date of hire. Eligible applicant must demonstrate their progress toward certification. 
  • Ordination in a recognized church body as well as endorsement by one's sponsoring religious organization.
  • Final ACPE evaluation is required
