The posted compensation range of $24.33 - $36.19 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Join us NOW as our Research Dept is seeking a Research Technician III to join our team! Performs complex and novel procedures as a laboratory professional with a degree of independence under the general supervision of a laboratory head, using proven scientific methods. When appropriate, provides guidance to lab personnel. Maintains expertise on all clerical matters, executing required tasks as needed, pertaining to clerical matters such as equipment, supply and/or other material inventory, purchasing and/or maintenance.

Performs complex and novel procedures as a laboratory professional with a degree of independence under the general supervision of a laboratory head, using proven scientific methods. When appropriate, provides guidance to lab personnel. Maintains expertise on all clerical matters, executing required tasks as needed, pertaining to clerical matters such as equipment, supply and/or other material inventory, purchasing and/or maintenance.

Keeps accurate records of studies conducted with minimal guidance.
Substantively contributes to advanced data analysis and interpretation with minimal guidance.
Creates, maintains, and updates lab's internal procedure manuals.
Presents findings regularly at internal lab meetings
Participates substantively in raising laboratory visibility be presenting findings at national meetings as requested.
Substantively contributes to publications and grant applications pertaining to work.
Oversees activities by others or maintains as needed laboratory materials by ensuring that there are routine service checks, preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment, that lab staff is properly trained in equipment use, and that materials and supplies are ordered, tracked, received and distributed properly.
Maintains relationships with vendors and engages in evaluation of new developments to ensure up-to-date knowledge of lab equipment


Job Requirements

At least five years of experience working professionally in a basic science laboratory.
Skills needed include data generation writing up laboratory procedures supervise and monitor lab operations to ensure productivity.
Conduct experiments to test new hypotheses.

This position is specifically catered to those candidates with strong experience in molecular biology cloning and viral vector biology and production.

Moreover experience with small preclinical models is desired including preclinical model behavior and histological analyses including immunohistochemistry and microscopy.

The candidate is also expected to assist in creating reports for grant proposals and presentation/publication.

Keep account of orders maintain equipment and supply inventory delegate daily maintenance and experiments.

Analyze results using statistical analyses.

Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences required.
Maintain written records of research effort.
Prepare data for results analyses.
Perform molecular biology techniques including RNA quantification PCR protein and nucleic acid separation and purification as well as nucleic acids: protein interaction assays.
Perform nucleic acid bacterial cloning techniques including ligations transformations and transfections. Familiarity with viral vectors is a plus.
Subcellular fractionation and organelle analysis.
Perform biochemical extractions enzyme assays antibody use and immunocyto/histochemistry.
Assist in preparing reports.

Four (4) years of experience in a research, clinical, or other scientific environment required.

Six (6) years of prior work experience in a research, clinical, or other scientific environment preferred. 

Familiar with laboratory techniques. Working knowledge of the scientific method and proven laboratory techniques.

Preferred: Has knowledge of lab function and oversight. Ability to contribute technically and continues to make contributions to reviewed research reports. Ability to contribute to training and educating students, technicians, post doctoral associates and laboratory head if necessary. Demonstrates an ability to continually improve performance. Proficient computer skills required. Proficient with laboratory techniques and basic computer skills preferred.
