The posted compensation range of $24.27 - $36.10 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an EMS supervisor at Good Samaritan Hospital, you will have oversight of the day to day activities of the EMS operations and team members. You will provide management support to plan, organize and lead resources with assigned team members; as well as functioning as an individual contributor within the department. You will participate in operationalizing CHI Health Strategic Initiatives and serve as a role model for ethical management behavior and promote an understandinf of positive, ethical, and moral principles consistent with the mission and values of CHI Health.

  • Has the authority to interview, hire, orient, terminate, promote, train and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Assigns day-to-day work activities; directs the functional and technical job performance of team members.
  • Allocates and directs staffing needs to meet patient, unit, and department needs, and collaborate with others to ensure overall staffing needs are met.
  • Manages performance including: Setting goals, clarifying job expectations, monitoring performance progress, providing feedback and recognition, developing skills and addressing performance issues related to our work and our Commitments using corrective action.
  • Oversees quality of patient care to assure delivery of individualized nursing care. Reviews and follows up on incident reports. Makes timely recommendations for improvements and revisions. Provides education to staff as needed.
  • Oversees patient care delivery to maximize patient/family satisfaction and minimize risk of injury or negative outcomes to patients or employees. Directs staff during emergency situations. Acts as an advocate for patients and family members. Acts as a resource for staff.

Job Requirements
  • Associates degree plus one year of direct experience in the paramedic field --OR-- 3 years of experience in the paramedic field.
  • EMT-P (EMT-Paramedic) in the state of Nebraska 
  • BLS or BLS instructor(Basic Life Support) certification through American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required within 6 months of hire
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within 6 months of hire
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required within 6 months of hire.

Where You'll Work

CHI Health Good Samaritan has provided paramedic-level emergency ambulance service to the City of Kearney and Buffalo County Fire District #1 since 1988. Our paramedics also provide mutual aid response to area ambulance and rescue squads in order to bring the emergency department closer to the patient. Long distance ambulance service based in Kearney also provides quality Basic and Advanced Life Support for patients being transferred from one facility to another.

Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.
