Responsibilities
Position Summary
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for technical clerical and transportation duties for the department and is involved with the preparation distribution and delivery of medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The technician must demonstrate competency in patient care for neonate pediatric adult and geriatric patients. Other duties within scope of practice as assigned by supervising pharmacist. The technician may be required to work at another Dignity Health facility.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current CA Pharmacy Technician.
  • One (1) year of acute care hospital pharmacy practice experience or a six (6) week pharmacy technician externship at the hiring facility
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the legal restrictions on the activities of non-licensed personnel in a hospital pharmacy medical abbreviations pharmaceutical terminology and calculations and generic/trade names of medications
  • Experience in the safe handling of antineoplastic/chemotherapeutic agents and aseptic technique in the preparation of intravenous admixtures and total parenteral nutrition 
  • The ability to load automated dispensing machines
  • Demonstrate accurate computer data entry skills and proper safety practices and techniques
  • Registration with the California State Board of Pharmacy as a registered technician
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a USP 797 clean room is preferable.  Certified Pharmacy Technician from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
