The posted compensation range of $24.24 - $36.15 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Monitor Tech, you will be responsible for continuous observation and analysis of patients' cardiac rhythms to detect and report changes.

Every day you will meticulously monitor EKG strips, identify arrhythmias, measure intervals, and promptly communicate critical findings to nursing staff and healthcare providers, ensuring accurate documentation.

To be successful, you will demonstrate sharp observational skills, a thorough understanding of cardiac rhythms, and the ability to act quickly and precisely under pressure, crucial for patient safety and timely intervention.

  • Monitors patient’s cardiac rhythms and/or oxygen saturation using appropriate cardiac monitoring equipment; obtains a baseline ECG strip on all monitored patients according to department guidelines; records and posts cardiac strips in accordance with established procedures; may replaces electrode pads, wires and batteries as necessary. Updates and verifies patient data in information system; maintains unit/department specific records as assigned.
  • Recognizes rhythms with the potential to alter the patient’s physiology and obtains a documentary ECG strip; immediately reports all arrhythmias to the RN responsible for the patient in accordance with established protocols.
  • Maintains current knowledge of the technical operation and capabilities of the central monitoring station; maintains alarm systems according to established protocols and responds appropriately to monitor alarms; identifies/troubleshoots routine technical problems with the monitors and sends work orders for maintenance/clinical engineering repairs as necessary.
  • Handles incoming and outgoing communications, answers questions and assists staff in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintains a safe work and patient environment, adhering to the hospital’s Safety, Risk Management and Regulatory Standards and if applicable infection prevention. Maintains a neat and organized work environment; orders, stocks and replenishes supplies and equipment as necessary; identifies and reports problems with supplies or equipment; enters equipment repair requests in system, tags equipment and removes from service.
  • Performs receptionist and support duties at the assigned unit; handles incoming and outgoing communications, transfers call appropriately, greets and assists visitors, answers questions in accordance with established procedures.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Graduation from an accredited monitor technician program, or current enrollment in an accredited nursing program or one year of recent related work experience as a monitor technician, upon hire and
  • Lead: Must be currently assigned as a Monitor Tech and have at least one year of work experience as a Monitor Tech.
