CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services.  CHI St. Alexius Health manages four CAHs in North Dakota - Elgin, Linton, and Wishek, as well as Mobridge Regional Medical Center in Mobridge, S.D. CHI St. Alexius Health offers a comprehensive line of inpatient and outpatient medical services, including: a Level II Trauma Center, primary and specialty physician clinics, home health and hospice services, durable medical equipment services, a fitness and human performance center and ancillary services throughout western and central North Dakota.

Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose

Collaborate in all phases of pharmaceutical services that includes drug distribution and clinical services, respecting all persons for their own personal worth and dignity while maintaining cost effectiveness

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor Drug therapy and communicates findings and recommendations to appropriate professionals
  • Accurately assess medication orders for appropriateness (dose, frequency, indication, drug-drug interactions, etc)
  • Prepare/check intravenous admixtures
  • Actively participate in clinical services including pharmacokinetic monitoring, monitoring/calculating TPN, anticoagulant management, monitoring microbiology cultures, registering/monitoring clozapine patients; Renal dosing protocol; IV to PO protocol
  • Provide timely drug information
  • Support Formulary management decisions; Prepare one Formulary monograph for System P&T Committee
  • Follow current policies and procedures;  Participate in writing/revising/reviewing two or more departmental policies
  • Participate in review and reporting of Medication Events and Adverse Drug Reactions as assigned
  • Maintains professionalism, competencies and leadership standards by providing in-service, writing newsletter article; completing mandatory education and job specific competencies; participates in committees as assigned.
  • Support Residency by assisting in recruitment efforts, including the interview process; completes evaluations as required
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Graduate of a College of Pharmacy with a minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree in Pharmacy

Required Licensure and Certifications

Licenses as a pharmacist in the state of North Dakota in good standing

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Computer proficiency and training to provide pharmaceutical care to all ages of patients
