Responsibilities

The Paramedic provides direct patient care; administers medications utilizing the five (5) Patient Rights; identifies significant changes or high risk situations; completes all documentation in a timely manner; demonstrates knowledge and use of equipment encountered in the ambulance department or in hospital; communicates patient status at transfer of care; adjusts own workload as needed; assess, identifies, and communicates staffing needs to Coordinator or adjusts staffing needs to current situation. She/he is responsible for the supervision, safety of EMT’s, staff, and bystanders, and coordinates the patient care with ancillary departments involved in either direct or indirect patient care.
