Responsibilities

Position Summary:


This position will act as an expert clinical and education resource; staff and leadership development consultant; and Utilization Management content expert for staff, leaders, physicians and customers across the ePH Utilization Management.
This position will assist with the design and implementation of onboarding for newly hired staff and leaders in all of the above settings to ensure they are knowledgeable about Dignity Health processes, regulatory requirements and respective role. Specific process will include how to use essential clinical applications and how to perform essential job functions.
This position will rely heavily on the ability to independently and proficiently use technology (both live and virtual) to effectively teach both in person and remotely. This position will also assess, initiate, coordinate, design, and implement education for staff, physicians and leaders which supports their ongoing professional development, and also support a patient-centered care delivery model and Utilization Management endeavors across the care continuum.
Education and staff development programs will be designed with a goal to enhance patient experience, reduce readmissions, prevent unnecessary admissions and ED visits, and support improved utilization of resources along the care continuum. Educational efforts will be aimed at helping to ensure an empowered, knowledgeable work force; ensuring a plan of care for patients in all stages of health; and ensuring efficient resource utilization, quality outcomes, and optimized reimbursement.
The position requires the ability to understand and develop training information (hard copy & electronic forms, including training videos, inperson and online presentations) for a variety of end users, from entry level resources to advanced clinical staff, physicians and leaders. This position will work closely with many people and departments to develop required training programs based on respective workflow processes, regulatory standards, policies and procedures that are in alignment with organizational strategic initiatives.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


- Expert level proficiency in Utilization Management, Home Health, and Hospice typically attained with 5+ years experience which includes inpatient, outpatient, home health and hospice.
- Extensive knowledge in the areas of case management, utilization management, and/or social services. Must have a working knowledge of hospital and/or post-acute care operations, medical/nursing staff procedures, hospital and community resources.
- At least 2 years of education/training experience and at least 2 years of management experience is required (or equivalent combination of education and management experience).
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Social Work or equivalent experience
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) or Social Worker (SW) license in good standing that meets applicable state requirements.
- Excellent leadership skills and an ability to interact well across departments, facilities and organizations. Demonstrates an executive presence.
- Excellent organizational, human relations and communication skills are required to maintain good rapport and effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Excellent customer service and presentation skills are essential.
- Excellence and experience in developing instructional material in all types of media and format. Experience in holding a variety of educational sessions including one-on-one, classroom settings, and web-based training and programs. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are essential.
- Demonstrated ability to apply analytical and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks or projects effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to improvise, lead and continue to deliver content when technical difficulties arise. Demonstrated ability to actively engage, educate, inspire and positively impact a virtual audience of learners.
- Ability to work independently as needed with a high degree of detail orientation.
- Capable of planning and organizing projects with short notice.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:


- Master’s degree in Nursing, Social Work or comparative field is highly preferred.
