Responsibilities
Job Summary:
Demonstrates competency in patient care for, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. The Respiratory Care Practitioner will perform arterial punctures, continuous ventilation, airway maintenance, emergency care, infection control, isolation procedures, maintenance and operation of mechanical ventilators, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and medical gas administration.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- This position requires licensure by the State of California, Board of Medical Quality Assurance as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, appropriate clinical experience is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- ACLS
- PALS
Knowledge of:
- Anatomy, physiology, pathology, and pathophysiology of the cardio respiratory system, biomedical electronics, basic mathematics, chemistry, physics, and psychology, pharmacology relating to respiratory therapy, respiratory care practice act, infection control.
Training:
- Ability to deal with agitated, ill, and uncomfortable patients, maintain confidence of patients, communicate effectively with patients and other members of the healthcare team, calm and reassure patients, work under stressful conditions with frequent interruption, keep accurate and complete records and work in harmony with other therapists.
