Overview

Work in the heart of #humankindess at CHI Mercy Health Valley City as a Nurse Assistant in our Medical/Surgical unit.

The  Nursing Assistant contributes to positive patient experiences by performing nursing care tasks under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical nurse, facilitating communication, and providing general clerical and administrative assistance to the unit. If you like flexibility this position is just for you as you'll work varied shifts as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Delivers direct patient care as delegated including but not limited to oral cares, bathing, transferring, repositioning, feeding, and providing direct supervision for patients requiring it.
  • Communicates and works cooperatively with nursing staff by reporting observations, serving as a liaison between patient and nurse, and updating other staff members through shift report.
  • Measures and documents accurately and at the time of occurrence vital signs, input and output, weights, procedures, personal care, activities of daily living, specimens as directed, observations, dietary intake, and ambulation.
  • Assumes routine coordination of clerical activities under the direction of department leadership and nurses on duty, including answering and routing phone calls, stocking supplies, communicating new orders and test results to pertinent staff, and locating charts and forms as requested.
  • Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Require the CNA certification or the ability to obtain it prior to July 1, 2024.
  • Must be registered as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department Health within four (4) months from the date of initial employment.
  • Basic Life Support.

Preferred: 

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D preferred. 
  • Certified Nursing Assistant is highly preferred.
