Responsibilities

The Manager, Acute Care is responsible for managing a department (Cardiac Cath Lab and EP Lab) that supports operations in an acute care or hospital-based setting on a 24-hour, 7 day a week basis. This job provides overall leadership for and direction of the day-to-day operations, departmental programs, and support initiatives at the organizational level as applicable.

  1. Provides leadership and direction and acts as a resource to staff for the day-to-day operations of the department.
  2. Manages human resource activities within the department, including; recruitment and retention, ensuring competency of staff through development and regular evaluation, and providing disciplinary counseling.
  3. Monitors departmental and personnel performance; develops and implements improvement initiatives.
  4. Develops and implements budget. Oversees fiscal management and develops goals and objectives to correspond with department standards.
  5. Acts as a contributing member of the acute care management team.
  6. Ensures staffing levels are adequate to ensure efficient operations and, where applicable, provide safe and effective care.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in related field is required. Five years of relevant clinical experience and three years of increasingly responsible supervisory experience is also required. In addition, the person in this role has excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as an understanding of budgets and financial planning.

A Master’s degree MSN, MHA, MBA or other related healthcare field, is preferred.
