Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive Perinatal Assessment & Care Planning: Greet patients, verify identity and consent, and conduct thorough assessments upon admission and throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum phases, developing and modifying age-appropriate care plans based on maternal and fetal status.
  • Labor & Delivery Management: Continuously monitor maternal vital signs, contraction patterns, and fetal heart rates, identify and respond to changes, and provide supportive interventions and pain management during labor and delivery.
  • Postpartum & Newborn Care: Provide immediate care to mothers post-delivery, monitor for postpartum complications, and deliver initial newborn care, including assessments and promoting bonding and breastfeeding.
  • Documentation & Communication: Accurately document all patient information, assessments, interventions, and lab results, ensuring timely communication with physicians regarding patient status, especially abnormal findings.
  • Patient & Family Education & Support: Explain procedures, verify understanding of the birth plan and care, provide vital health education related to childbirth and newborn care, and offer emotional support to patients and families throughout their experience.
