Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Manager, Children's Center, this position supports and assists the Children's Center clinical staff in their daily tasks related to client treatment. The position also supports the therapeutic process by collaborating with full scope Medi-Cal clients and families to identify and meet their needs by identifying and accessing services within the community, co-facilitating groups, and teaching parenting and social skills. This position also provides Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) services related to homelessness and housing support.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 2 years full-time experience in a mental health, social service, or educational setting.
  • Associates degree.
  • A valid California Drivers License, valid automobile insurance, and reliable automobile transportation are required.
  • Special Skills: Developmental stages. Psychosocial interviewing. Coordination skills with other members of the treatment team. Crisis skills to coordinate with appropriate staff in an emergency and provide support. Knowledge to coordinate with appropriate staff in a crisis and/or emergency and provide support. Group dynamics and behavior. Psychosocial needs of children. Community resources for children and families. Strong, organizational skills. Sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversities of clients and families. Maintain positive and professional customer skills with clients. Possess good interpersonal skills and ability to develop quick rapport with a wide variety of people. Schedule and perform clinical assessments and obtain psychosocial histories. Present clinical findings professionally in clinical case staffings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 years full time experience in a mental health, social service or educational setting
  • Bachelor's degree in a social science or related field. Those with a bachelor's degree in social science or a related field can substitute this additional education for the experience requirement or enrollment in a field placement traineeship or internship at Dignity Health Medical Foundation as part of a Bachelor's/ Master's Degree program in an appropriate behavioral science discipline.
  • Bi-lingual skills and outreach experience are desirable. Mental status evaluation. DSM diagnosis. Psychotropic medications. Sacramento County Mental Health assessment/evaluation instruments.
