Dignity Health Advance Imaging, a service of Dignity Health Medical Foundation, provides cutting-edge diagnostic imaging services at 16 locations in the greater Sacramento and Woodland areas.  Our team of 160 staff members work with our specialty trained and board certified radiologists to provide high quality care to our patients.  The locations perform more than 175000 exams annually with the goal of providing top quality imaging compassionate care and timely service with a smile.


Responsibilities

Position Summary:


The Medical Physicist provides radiological and dosimetry services. Ensures that an accurate delivery of a planned treatment course of radiation therapy is achieved. Keeps accurate control records. The Radiation Physicist is designated Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) and responsible for all aspects physics for the radiation therapy department. Provides patient education. Applies the principles of radiation protection to ensure safety for everyone. Provides education through teaching to staff as necessary. Works closely with physicians, administration, and staff, to ensure that the highest standard of service is provided to the patients.
May be required to occasionally work at other locations within the Greater Sacramento Area as needed.

Responsiblities may include:
- Provide radiological physics and dosimetry services as required by the Radiation Oncologist.
- Provides dose distributions and diagrams of treatment plan.
- Develops and establishes quality control policies with respect to the linear accelerators and all other therapy and imaging equipment.
- Participates in quality Assurance and Utilization review programs with respect to radiological physics and dosimetry services.
- Familiar with and maintains appropriate documentation to meet radiation licensing and accreditation requirements, by state of California and federal agencies.
- Functions as liaison between physicians and technologists and area support staff.
- Operates and maintains all computer systems in the physics department.
- Provides radiation safety as RSO support to department and patients.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


- Two (2) years as a Medical Radiation Physicist.
- Master's degree.
- Board Certified ABR/ABMP in Radiation Therapy Physics/Eligible for ABR or ABMP.
- Familiarity with ARIA - Record & Verify (R&V). Provides guidance and consult for the dosimetry.

- Familiar with State of California radiation compliance standards and ability to act as administrator required.

- Ability to work individually and as a team without reservation, especially in unforeseen circumstances towards an efficient and effective department operation.

- Provides radiation safety, radioactive material surveys and radioactive material inventories.

Preferred Qualifications:


- Four (4) years as Medical Radiation Physicist preferred.
- Experience in Varian linear accelerators is strongly preferred.
- Experience with treatment planning in external and High Dose Rate (HDR) brachytherapy preferred.
