Responsibilities

This is a PRN role.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitates accurate, safe, efficient, and timely dispensing of prescription and OTC medications in accordance with Company and department policies and procedures, and all state and federal regulations
  • Counsels, and educates patient, physicians, residents, nurses and other healthcare providers on drug/OTC information in accordance with state law. 
  • Accurately complete prescription orders received from patients and providers to include data entry, data verification, drug utilization review (i.e dosing and indication verification, therapeutic duplications and interactions, allergy review, and other safety verifications), filling, labeling, final product verification, and staging for delivery
  • Consults with insurance companies to obtain authorization for prescription coverage.
  • Follow-up with medical providers to clarify prescribed medications and prescriptions
  • Participates in department quality programs as evidenced by documentation of meeting attendance, meeting participation and reports produced. 
  • Other duties performed may include, but are not limited to:  routine  immunizations, travel immunizations, compounding, bedside delivery with medication consultation or meds to beds program, participation in applicable collaborative practice agreements or therapy protocols, MTM participation

Qualifications

Required Experience, Education and Skills

  • BS in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Preferred:  One year of work experience in a retail pharmacy setting
  • Active, unrestricted license by the state board of pharmacy for the state(s) of employment.
  • Multi-state licensure, if applicable by site
  • Current healthcare provider BLS certification, if applicable by site
  • Current certification in Pharmacy-based Immunization Delivery, if applicable by site

Compensation is determined by direct related experience and company equity.
