Responsibilities

While this position provides virtual cardiac monitoring services to the patients of CommonSpirit Health across the United States, this position must work on-site at our Phoenix AZ Virtual Hospital located at 3033 N. 3rd Avenue.

As our Virtual Cardiac Monitoring Tech at CommonSpirit Health, you will help people in need across the United States in a 24/7 virtual call center environment. You will be part of our highly specialized team of patient caregivers at CommonSpirit Health's Virtual Hospital in Phoenix, AZ.

Every day, you will perform remote cardio-pulmonary rhythm surveillance for up to 60 patients at multiple locations nationwide. Using advanced IT technologies, you will accurately recognize cardiac rhythms and notify on-site patient care team of any changes in cardiac rhythm, arrhythmias, or oxygen saturation. You are the additional pair of eyes needed to proactively recognize, record and report potentially dangerous changes in patient behaviors to strive to improve patient outcomes. 

To succeed in this role, you must be committed to providing focused patient cardio-pulmonary monitoring, successfully recognize potentially dangerous rhythm changes or oxygen saturation, and communicate what you see to the on-site patient care team calmly and efficiently, ensuring the best possible outcome for the patient.

Key Job Responsibilities

Utilizing highly advanced IT technology, you will be the eyes of our onsite patient care team by maintaining continuous cardio-pulmonary monitoring surveillance of assigned patients nationwide.  You will need to recognize the difference between emergency and non-emergency changes and quickly evaluate the situation.  You will initiate communication with the onsite patient care team to report any situation requiring immediate and direct intervention to maintain patient safety, healing, and comfort.   You will practice direct observation skills to anticipate changes in cardiac rhythms and oxygen saturation and know when to engage the onsite staff.   You may serve as an escalation trigger for immediate patient care or simply a sense of comfort knowing someone is monitoring the patient while not directly in the room.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Successful completion of a Basic EKG test within 90-days of Hire.
  • Graduate from an accredited healthcare related program that demonstrates the completion of an EKG Interpretation course, for example: 
    • Nursing Assistant (or military medical specialty training)
    • Medical Assistant
    • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
    • Radiology
    • Respiratory Therapy 

AND

  • 2 years of recent related work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.

OR

  • Official transcript reflecting completion of fundamentals of nursing and one semester of clinical practice in an RN school that demonstrates the completion of an EKG Interpretation course.

Preferred:

  • 3-years patient care experience or two years of experience as a monitor tech.
  • Graduation from one of the following accredited programs, that demonstrates the completion of an EKG Interpretation course:
      • Associates degree in EKG Technology
      • Basic and/or Advanced EKG Certificate
      • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certificate
      • Cardio-Pulmonary Certificate
  • National recognized EKG Certification.
