Overview

Work in the heart of #humankindess at CHI St. Joseph's Health as our Food Service Worker in the Nutrition Services department. This person serves CHI Health’s vision and mission by supporting patient meals with the proper foods and beverages according to established menus and production sheets. You'll assist in patient tray line assembly and related duties; loads, operates, and cleans the dishwasher. Your stellar customer service skills will shine while assisting in the service of meals to patrons of retail outlets (such as Dining Centers or coffee shops) and operates the cash register. You're attention to detail will showcase while you maintain the records, inventories, surveys, and other controls relevant to all retail outlets. The Food Service Worker will demonstrate teamwork while working together to ensure proper storage, equipment operation, in all food service areas to maintain high standards of sanitation and safety requirements of the department, reporting all unsafe conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Cook/Prepare and serve patients, families and employees nutritious, safe and good tasting foods that promote health and healing of the body.
  • Responsible for preparation and service of meals for all patients including regular, therapeutic and texture modified diets.
  • Prepares patient meals that follow established standardized recipes, IDDSI guidelines and safe food handling procedures.
  • Utilizes meal service computer software to place appropriate diet orders for hospital patients according to food preferences, allergens, and nutritional needs.
  • Practices in accordance with policies and procedures of the Nutrition Services Department, state food codes, and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, operational and sanitary kitchen environment according to department standards.
  • Collects soiled trays and wares from patient care areas and retail outlets.
  • Keeps all equipment and working area clean and orderly. Maintains tray, china, and silverware supplies in retail outlets. Loads, delivers, and returns food carts to and from all patient areas.
  • Sets up retail outlets with hot and cold food items and beverage items according to the established guidelines.
  • Additional responsibilities in fromal job description.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) years food service experience.

Preferred:

  • Ability to navigate through computer systems.
  • Work experience in healthcare, school, or commercial foodservice operation.
  • One to three years of food service experience.
