Overview

CHI St. Joseph's Health is looking for two top-notch, caring and compassionate summer CNA Interns to work in our Emergency Department! These positions are funded by MN Hospital Association Summer Health Care Intern Program. Candidates must be post-secondary/college students exploring a healthcare career.

The summer interns will work under direction of a Registered Nurse and contribute to the basic patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patient. Areas of observation may include surgery, lab and imaging.  Actual job tasks may vary depending on the unit or department assigned.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do...

  • Duties include being a liaison between patient/family members and ER staff. Areas of observation would include: surgery, lab, and imaging.
  • Assumes personal responsibility for professional development, practice, and education. Maintains a professional and safe work environment. Attends and participates in regular meetings
  • Contributes to the assessment of the health status of patients.
  • Communicates pertinent patient information to appropriate members of the treatment team with direction of the Charge Nurse.
  • Takes vital signs, changes dressings and helps patients take their medication.
  • Assists patients/families with light housekeeping duties such as assisting with meals or changing bed linens.
  • Reports any changes in a patient's condition to the Charge Nurse.

Qualifications
  • Must be a local High School student or college student exploring a healthcare career.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of MN required.
  • BLS preferred or must be willing to obtain.
