We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our healthcare team as a Chaplain. As a vital part of our spiritual care team, you will provide emotional and spiritual support to patients, families, and hospital staff during challenging times. Responsibilities include conducting spiritual assessments, offering counseling, leading worship services, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care. The ideal candidate will have a recognized theological degree, relevant pastoral experience, and a commitment to providing comforting and supportive spiritual care within a hospital setting.


Responsibilities
  • Conduct spiritual assessments and provide appropriate pastoral care to patients and their families.
  • Offer counseling and emotional support to individuals facing illness, loss, or challenging life situations.
  • Facilitate worship services, prayer groups, and other spiritual activities for patients and staff.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to integrate spiritual care into the overall treatment plan.
  • Be available for on-call duties to respond to urgent spiritual care needs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of pastoral visits and interventions.

Qualifications
  • Some experience working in clinical settings addressing pastoral spiritual and ethical issues as evidenced by 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from an Assoc. of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) accredited. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree  in a relevant field (e.g. Divinity Theology Mission Integration Ministry Spiritual Care Pastoral Counseling Bioethics) required. 
  • En route to Board Certified Chaplain certification by National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) or Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC).
  • Ability to work effectively with the sick and dying responding appropriately in crisis situations and effectively dealing with stress and resilience.
  • Ability to work well with other professionals; excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Commitment to ones own personal and spiritual growth. 
  • Ecclesial endorsement by one’s Church / Denomination / Faith Tradition to provide spiritual care / pastoral care. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current certification by National Association of Catholic Chaplains or Association of Professional Chaplains preferred
  • Advanced degree (Masters or above or equivalent) in any of the following: Divinity Theology Mission Integration Ministry Spiritual Care Pastoral Counseling Bioethics (or equivalent)
  • Bilingual - fluent English / Spanish
  • Evidence of bioethical education
