Responsibilities

$5,000 sign-on bonus and $10,000 educational assistance available to external candidates

  • Full Time Opportunity
  • Day Shifts, Monday - Friday (8:00am - 4:30pm)

  • Performs standard and complex electroencephalographic recordings:  a)  applies suitable electrodes on predetermined measured positions and checks their performance, b)  calibrates and adjusts the EEG apparatus, c)  selects predetermined electrode combinations as well as special combinations made necessary by the case under study; takes standard recordings; recognizes artifacts and takes appropriate steps to eliminate them; describes normal and abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the tests; uses activating procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation and sleep; obtains the patient's cooperation for the best performance of these procedures; monitors on the same apparatus other variables such as electromyogram, electrocardiograms, electro-oculograms, respiration, etc., when indicated.  d)  abstracts relevant information from the patient's clinical record and additional information by questioning.  Performs difficult and/or unusual recording procedures. Identifies appropriate age specific interventions and incorporates into daily practice
  • Assists physicians with electromyography.  Place the patient on the examination table and explain the procedure.
  • Keeps equipment in a clean operating condition.  Troubleshoots and repairs minor malfunctions in the equipment.  Initiates repair of malfunctioning equipment.
  • Practices strict ethical enforcement of protected medical and employee confidentiality.  Uses confidential information only as needed to perform legitimate duties.
  • Transports patients, maintaining safety and comfort.
  • Authorized to make entries in the medical record, consistent with and limited to the scope of the job duties and any applicable licensure.

Qualifications

Licenses & Certifications

  • BLS through American Heart Association certification is required upon hire
  • Registered Electroencephalographic (EEG) Tech through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledgeable and skilled in all EEG and EMG diagnostic testing
  • Job requires continuous use of reading skills and verbal communication skills
  • Frequent use of written communication skills
  • Job requires delegations, conflict resolution, individual and group interactions, time management, critical thinking and stress management
  • Incumbents must possess knowledge of how to provide care to a diverse population of patients and the ability to communicate and work with people from a variety of age-groups, social strata and ethnic backgrounds
