Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Under the guidance of the Market Director of Respiratory Services, established departmental policies and procedures, and specific instructions, the Echo Cardiopulmonary Diagnostic Tech I provides diagnostic testing and therapies assigned that include echocardiograms, pulmonary function studies, EEG’s, Cardiac Stress Testing and Holter-Monitoring. Maintains patient safety through attention to detail, equipment safety checks, adherence to department policies, and effective communication with physicians, staff and patients. Provides patient orientation, procedure explanation, and pre and post diagnostic care to completion of test. Assists patients with basic patient care needs. Displays professional, safe conduct in all interactions. Maintains positive working relationships with staff, other departments, physicians and peers. Displays conduct in support of CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial Mission & Vision.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education Level | Minimum: High School Diploma / GED & either Graduate of an accredited echocardiography program or an approved allied health program: Respiratory Therapy, Radiology, or Nursing or *Minimum of (3) year’s direct experience in echocardiography discipline may be substituted for higher education level. |
Licensure/Certification | Required: BLS certification (through an approved AHA program) Preferred: Eligible for registry through either American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography - ARDMS (RDCS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International – CCI (RCS) |
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | 1. Perform the duties stated under position responsibilities. 2. Acquire adequate and accurate information for physician interpretation. 3. Relate effectively with co-workers, physicians and general staff as part of a team in a professional manner at all times. 4. Interpersonal skills for communication with patients, visitors, physicians and other team members. 5. Respond calmly and effectively in stressful environments. |
Experience | Required: Three (3) years patient care work experience Preferred: Minimum of (1) year of experience in Echocardiogram discipline *Minimum of (3) year’s direct experience in echocardiography discipline required in lieu of higher education level. |
