As our Clinical Dietitian Lead, you will assess our patients' nutritional status using recognized assessment tools, coordinate and assist with clinical nutrition administrative duties, and mentor others. You will take great pride in leading others and recommending and counseling patients, families, and caregivers on the appropriate nutrition plan to improve the patient's health and well-being.

Every day, you will routinely work with patients with high acuity (e.g., pediatric, bariatric, ICU, etc.) who require advanced competency to provide expert-level care and nutrition therapy.  You will perform nutritional assessments using age and gender-appropriate standards and cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.  You will conduct routine screenings to identify patients at nutritional risk and collaborate within an interdisciplinary environment to contribute to facilitating care, all while demonstrating excellent customer service to patients, families, and caregivers.  

In addition, you will advance your skills by coordinating and assisting with clinical nutrition administrative duties and mentoring other Clinical Dietitians and students in the core behaviors and responsibilities of the department and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develops an intervention plan which includes appropriate feeding route, mode, and nutrition prescription unique to patient's specific needs, in accordance with physicians' orders. 
  • Monitors and evaluates patient response to interventions by meeting specific measurable goals documented in the nutrition care plan in a timely and thorough manner in the medical record. 
  • Updates plan of care as necessary and follows up with the patient as needed. 
  • Supports in maintaining adequate staffing for clinical daily needs reflecting cost efficiency.
  • Coordinates and leads the training/development of Clinical Dietitians I & II, patient interactive positions (i.e. dietitians, diet clerks, interns, etc.) as well as other positions as needed. 
  • May lead Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) training sessions and workshops for overall hospital clinical staff such as nurses, therapists, and physicians.
  • Collaborates with the Food and Nutrition Services team to enhance patient experience.


Qualifications
  • Two (2) years as a Clinical Dietitian II at Dignity Health or CSH, or four (4) years acute hospital experience working with patients in more complex levels of care to specialized populations (e.g. pediatric, bariatric, ICU, etc.) 
  • Bachelor's Degree with completion of accredited dietitian program (ACEND - Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition Dietetics.) 
  • Valid registration as a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). 
  • Dietitian State license in the following states:
  • Tennessee
  • Ohio
  • Kansas
  • Georgia
  • Iowa
  • Utah
  • Kentucky

  • Minnesota

  • NebraskaNorth Dakota
