Responsibilities

The Client Services Tech I will have direct contact with patients and laboratory customers and is instrumental in creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while performing job duties. The Client Services Tech I will routinely perform duties in one of the two (2) designated sections of the Client Services Department as described below:
o Perform all functions associated with the transport, receipt, processing, storage and retrieval of laboratory specimen according to established procedures OR
o Perform all functions associated with answering and triaging incoming calls to the appropriate  laboratory department, as well as monitoring STAT testing completion report and assisting in calling critical test results when appropriate according to established procedures.

Must be able to perform duties with minimal supervision.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Adequately and correctly label patient specimen in an efficient and safe manner according to established procedures and regulatory requirements.
2. Answer incoming phone calls and assist callers with inquiries, complaints and/or issues in a professional manner.
3. Provide prompt, excellent customer service to all internal and external customers
4. Assist in the calling of critical and noncritical test results
5. Adequately and efficiently transport, receive, process and distribute blood and other specimen to the appropriate area of laboratory for testing according to established procedures.
6. Appropriately handles unacceptable specimen received into the laboratory.
7. Perform routine clerical duties and computer functions related to collection, labeling, reciept and processing of patient specimen.
8. Maintain a clean and well stocked work area (i.e. restocking of phlebotomy carts).
9. Demonstrate the ability to recognize and resolve problems and escalate as appropriate.
10. Actively participate in Performance Improvement initiatives
11. Adhere to all regulatory requirements


Qualifications

Education:
High School Diploma/GED

Experience:

One (1) year of relevant work experience

Skills:

• Excellent phlebotomy skills when applicable
• Excellent customer service skills
• Basic computer skills
• Physical or mental abilities standard verbiage
