Responsibilities
  • Principal Instructional Designer is the training team lead for the management of training programs or large projects and training materials within their respective team/area; including scope, schedule, quality, and deadlines. Actively participates and leads meetings to discuss project and/ or team related activities, issues, risks, change, communications, and updates.
  • Leads in the development and documentation of internal procedures that will be used in conjunction with applications, projects and Training (Service Management, Optimization bundle management, credentialing, etc.)
  • Leads the development of courses, instructional materials and other electronic instructional information consistent with adult learning theory. Incorporates adult learning principles into training materials and curriculum. Proposes innovative ideas and trains the team on those results. 
  • Manages large to extra-large projects including work plans, issues list, decision lists, risks and status reports. Project Leadership skills.
  • Facilitates the gathering of training requirements and workflow walkthroughs (number people to be trained, job roles, job responsibilities, workflows, etc.)
  • Monitors emerging technologies, training and development trends and standards and makes recommendations for adoption.
  • Leads and demonstrates conversion of traditional courses into online learning modules (Example; Amplifire, etc.) as needed.
  • Experience with tools like Articulate, Captivate, Storyline or other course authoring tools is expected:
  • Creating and applying templates
  • Designing and creating storyboards
  • Developing learning content
  • If needed, lead and report out the process to maintain patients and ensure production changes move into the training environment in partnership with the engineering team.
  • Fulfill a Mitosis Guru role and leads the Mitosis Guru team.
  • Provide leadership to ensure all team documentation is maintained for the training environments. Maintains Epic cookbook and assists others with training environment build.
  • Provides leadership to ensure tools and processes are maintained to support the effectiveness of the training program. Develops tools and processes as needed.
  • Mentors all team members with training, application and information systems knowledge. Lead role for MST build and lead instructional designer as needed.
  • May require some off shift coverage responsibilities, especially during implementation projects.
  • Remote eligible.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience in a Healthcare environment. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least nine (9) years relevant healthcare experience; Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and training methodologies.
  • Proficiency in conducting training needs assessments and translating them into effective training programs. Ability to identify performance gaps, assess learning objectives, and align training initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Ability to adapt training delivery methods to different learning styles and audience needs.
  • Experience in designing and implementing training evaluation strategies, including the use of surveys, assessments, and other evaluation tools. Ability to analyze evaluation data and provide recommendations for program improvement.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and e-learning platforms.
  • Familiarity with authoring and design tools (like Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, SAP Enable Now, etc.)
  • Demonstrates expert experience with video and audio editing software packages.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools. Ability to manage multiple training projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with change management principles and methodologies.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills. Ability to lead and motivate a project team, manage project resources effectively, and drive collaboration.
  • One or more valid Epic certifications. Must maintain certification(s). Or current Clinical licensure.
