The posted compensation range of $38.81 - $56.28 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson part of CommonSpirit Heath a national nonprofit health system based in Englewood Colorado. The faith-based system operates in 18 states and includes 103 hospitals. Additional services offered within the system are: long-term care assisted and residential living communities community health services organizations home health agencies and numerous outpatient facilities.
This role may also function as the CLIA Lab Director for Point of Care testing, Blood Gas Lab, and clinics performing waived laboratory testing. Collaborates closely with the phlebotomy supervisor. Develops and uses the orientation, education, competency, and evaluation materials necessary to provide a highly skilled, customer focused team. Exhibits positive communication skills with all patients and customers.
Responsibilities
- Delegates departmental duties to appropriate staff members.
- Able to schedule staff and assist in filling vacant shifts as appropriate
- Ensures quality patient care standards and safety practices are met.
- Reviews laboratory invoices, completes requests for purchases, and cash withdrawal forms.
- Submits and responds to incident events in a timely manner.
- Responsible for job requisitions, staff interviews, counselling, annual evaluations, and termination.
- Handles and responds to department issues with staff, equipment, policies, etc.
- Attends interdepartmental and hospital wide meetings and serves on committees as appropriate.
- Approves and monitors staff timecards.
- Meets with vendors and investigates new supplies.
Qualifications
Required Education (for CHI Leadership Job Levels from Supervisor through President) | Sys/Div/Mkt/Local Supervisor – Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 1 year experience in the discipline OR 3 years’ experience in the discipline OR Master’s Degree and no experience |
Required Education for Staff Job Levels | Baccalaureate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry or Microbiology. North Dakota State Licensure C.L.S. |
Required Minimum Experience | Three to five years in a clinical laboratory setting. |
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | Proficient with Lab computer system. Ability to communicate with patients in order to explain necessary procedures and answer questions. Good educator skills. Good phlebotomy skills. Ability to demonstrate positive behavior in interacting with patients, coworkers, physicians, visitors, and all other hospital personnel. Able to identify and distinguish color. Physical work level of light/medium: Involves a maximum physical effort requirement of 35 pounds full material handling. Works hours as required to adequately supervise 24 hour department responsibilities. Works under the condition that there is potential exposure to mechanical, chemical, electrical, and infectious environmental hazards associated with medical center operations. |
