Overview

CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson part of CommonSpirit Heath a national nonprofit health system based in Englewood Colorado. The faith-based system operates in 18 states and includes 103 hospitals. Additional services offered within the system are: long-term care assisted and residential living communities community health services organizations home health agencies and numerous outpatient facilities.

Under minimal supervision, plans and implements activities that will broaden the Foundation's donor base and establish a strong and consistent level of support. Assists in monitoring and implementation of various donor recognition events and cultivation of prospects in coordination with the Director.  Works toward meeting established calendar of annual development activities and fund raising goals. Helps sustain atmosphere for continued progress on defined and approved goals and objectives for Foundation.  Promotes momentum for achieving donor satisfaction, acquisition of new donors, upgrading of present donors, and increasing overall revenue. Works with Director to provide grant administration of existing grants, including data collection, disbursements of grant money, follow up reporting and any other duties as assigned.


Responsibilities

Coordinates fund raising activities for the Foundation.  Assures time-lines are coordinated and desired results obtained for various campaigns and projects with Foundation personnel.  Works closely with the Director in the development and preparation of solicitation strategies; makes recommendations for the Long Range and Annual Development Plans; and makes policy recommendations. Recommends to Director upcoming fiscal year budget specific to respective components of annual campaign activities.  Promotes awareness of Hospital/Foundation with all constituents.  

2*Responsible for maintenance of grant records, including narrative and financial reports, fund transfers, completing check authorizations, filing, data collection and tracking, and all other supporting documentation, reporting and follow up as needed.

3.*  In coordination with the Director, performs Planned Giving responsibilities by representing the Foundation to major and planned gift prospects. Functions as a resource to financial professionals/advisors and donors/prospects when needed. Personally cultivates new prospects on a regular basis effecting gift proposals to net improved major/planned gift revenues.

4.*  Oversees all annual giving initiatives, including direct mail campaigns to enhance donor acquisition and/or stimulate upgrades, annual employee campaign, memorial giving program that includes Walkway of Honor, Donor Recognition Wall.   Recommends solicitation methods, plans, implements, evaluates and reports on activities.  Generates detailed comparative and analytical reports and recommends strategies for donor acquisition and upgrades.  Participates in the Foundation's Major Gift Campaign.  


Qualifications

Required Education for Staff Job Levels

  • Understanding of fundraising and marketing techniques, communications, project planning and implementation as typically acquired through completion of a Bachelors Degree in Business, Marketing or a related field.

Required Licensure and Certifications

  • Must have and maintain at all times, a valid North Dakota driver's license (within 30 days of hire or transfer date) and a good driving record.  Must be able to utilize own transportation during work time.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Approximately two years combined work experience in areas of sales techniques/ methods, development principles, supervision of and development of staff.

PREFERRED Qualifications

  • Analytical skills necessary to research donor profiles, screen donor records, prioritize contacts, determine most appropriate method and timing of gift proposals.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills in order to communicate with Board members as needed as well as represent the institution to major and planned gift prospects and donors, and their professional advisors; develop productive relationships with prospects and donors; prepare and disseminate information to individuals and groups; prepare and deliver persuasive, easily understood gift proposals. 

  • Two or more years’ experience in accounting principles and application of general ledger, financial statement analysis and budgeting.

  • Ability to maintain close attention to detail for up to 25% of work time when developing/implementing plans, coordinating the support activities of the Assistant Development Coordinator, and in volunteer and donor relation activities.
