Overview

Work closely with CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake staff to support the facility and their subsidiaries through grant development and management, volunteer services, marketing and foundational activities. You'll direct the operational, financial, personnel, and planning activities for the department. This position has a sound grasp of fundraising principles including donor acquisition, annual giving, major gifts, stewardships, and communications. As the Foundation-Volunteer Service Coordinator you'll be held accountable for policies and procedures of the department and organization.  This position supports the mission, vision, and philosophy of CommonSpirit Health.

To thrive in this role, you'll demonstrate your established leadership skills through knowledge of coaching and mentoring practices. You'll showcase your ability to prioritize and organize workload all while having the ability to deal tactfully with all internal and external customers.  This position requires the ability to be flexible and work harmoniously with co-workers, patients/families, and physicians.  Additionally, you'll have the ability to work outside normal operating hours for Departmental events as needed.

CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake Hospital is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital accredited by The Joint Commission licensed by the North Dakota State Department of Health and certified by the Department of Health and Human Services for participation in the Medicare Program. Our hospital has been committed to providing patients quality medical treatment in the Lake Region area and surrounding communities since 1902.


Responsibilities
  • Responsible for providing leadership for the Foundation and committees as well as the Volunteer Programs more commonly known as the local Auxiliary.  This includes; recruitment, on-boarding, managing performance, goal setting and measurement, and ongoing communication with all parties
  • Manage budget and fiscal responsibility to ensure positive and consistent alignment of balancing facility needs, outcomes, and compliance with applicable bylaws and guidelines
  • Schedules, organizes, plans, and coordinates special events and activities to enhance the image of the Hospital, foster community relationships, and promote fundraising/philanthropy
  • Identify potential contributors, supporters, funders, and research grant opportunities.
  • Keeps a database of donors and past giving records; records expenses incurred and contributions received. Also, keeps a database for donors who no longer wish to receive communication and regularly updates it and shares with regional/national staff. 
  • Works independently and with Division Marketing teams to determine training for posting on Facebook, contacts to keep the website up to date, as well as maintain a good supporting relationship with the local newspaper and radio stations. Utilizes all required forms that require signatures for staff to participate in
    marketing campaigns.
  • Receives and Receipts pledges and funds from contributors understanding accounting principles required by the National Foundation Group.
  • Responsible for all operations of the Gift Shop; works cooperatively with volunteers to assure seasonal and routine items are purchased in a timely manner to keep the gift shop operational. 
  • Responsible for volunteer requirements for entering the facility to assure appropriate education, badging, and infection prevention policies are understood by those agreeing to be a volunteer. 
  • Prepares information for Foundation Board meetings, records, and publishes meeting minutes. 
  • Identifies funding sources by reviewing literature, email, internet, and attending seminars, and informationalmeetings with program staff in private and public where appropriate.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • WSI driving course
  • Leadership experience. 
  • Mentor and/or coaching experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience with fundraising, event planning and leadership experience.
