Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, assists in general maintenance functions of the hospital.
- Completes assigned work orders and/or PMs in a timely manner or informs supervisor of any problems accomplishing a task.
- Operation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of the boilers.
- Assist with facilities grounds assignments.
- Knowledgeable to reset chillers, boilers and how to follow instructions for adding chemicals and blowing down boilers.
- Knowledgeable of systems to change heating and cooling temperatures.
- Knowledgeable of energy management systems and be able to implement minor adjustments.
- Immediately identifies and informs supervisor of any malfunctioning equipment.
- Achieves to reduce maintenance and utility costs through improved operational procedures.
- Helps to maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
- Maintains a professional attitude toward patients, visitors and staff at all times.
- Varies work schedule or shift to meet the department staffing needs.
- Works overtime only with approval or when requested by Supervisor.
- Schedules all vacation and personal holidays with prior supervisory approval.
- Performs other duties as required by Supervisor.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Trade School helpful
- Have at least 3 years commercial construction or industrial experience in maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
- Have at least 1 year of practical experience in an accredited hospital facilities department
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training:
- Must be able to perform minor electrical, HVAC, mechanical repairs.
- Must be able to read blue prints.
- Must have some minor computer skills (work order systems).
- Must have good communication skills.
- Must have general knowledge or willing to learn equipment associated with the support of a hospital. Equipment included but not limited to: vacuum pumps, medical air compressors, chillers and emergency power.
- Must be able to perform task without supervision.
